About the Founders

Don and Cheryl Rasmussen are graduates of Trinity Bible College in Clearwater, Florida. They went through missionary training with New Tribes Mission and spent two years on the field in Colombia, South America.

Following this, they returned to Colombia independently and founded a ministry with young people, which quickly developed into the first drug rehabilitation ministry in that country. After several years they returned to the United States where they served as pastors for several years, always with a heart for the mission field. Their ministry in Colombia grew and developed into churches, each one connected with a drug rehabilitation center.  It is estimated that 80% of the national ministries in Colombia, South America that work with street people had their beginnings with the ministry established by Don and Cheryl over thirty years ago. For many years Don and Cheryl worked as overseers of this ministry, and they have just recently turned the leadership completely over to national leaders.

In 1984 Don and Cheryl felt led of the Lord to establish Missionary Companion Ministries that would serve independent missionaries. They see themselves as facilitators of ministries. Their work has helped others grow, develop in ministry, and step out to establish new missionary organizations with time.

"Our goal is to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ, so we look for ways to make ministry happen, and don't create barriers that will hold people back from realizing the call God has placed upon their lives", Don says.

Thank you so much for being there for us. When we came to Guatemala there weren't many ministries like yours to take care of us missionaries. You have been faithfully with us for many years and we sure do appreciate it. You have encouraged & blessed us many, many times.
